A note on folklore numbers

This niche is full of impressive statistics with no findable source. “Leads contacted in 5 minutes are 21× more likely to qualify” circulates widely, tracing loosely to a 2007 MIT/InsideSales study of B2B web leads that’s old enough to drive. We cite it here as folklore: directionally consistent with modern data, not something to put on a slide with a straight face. When we can’t trace a number, we say so. That’s the policy.
